The Swedish pavilion, located within the Sustainability District, had a total Built-up Area of approx. 1,600 m², designed by Alessandro Ripellino Arkitekter and inspired by the metaphor of the forest. The concrete-free pavilion was entirely built out of timber, including foundations (first ever similar building for the GCC area), and designed to be rebuilt and transformed for other different future needs. It was awarded the BIE’s Bronze Award for “Theme Interpretation” (Medium Size pavilions).
